Mental Health

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
Anxiety
Depression

As an Occupational Therapist, I specialize in working with individuals with severe and persistent mental health conditions. I work collaboratively with clients and their team, taking a holistic approach when creating comprehensive rehabilitation plans.

My goal is to help individuals strengthen their resiliency by creating a toolbox of effective strategies. I use activation programming to support individuals with a reintegration in to work, home, and community responsibilities.  Prolonged exposure therapy is an effective method I practice to assist individuals recovering from traumatic experiences.

Mental health refers to cognitive, behavioral, and emotional well-being. Stress, depression and anxiety often affect daily living, relationships, and personal routines.

I encourage self-discovery and development of functional coping skills through rehabilitation techniques that use education, participation in daily activities, and exposure.

Veterans Affairs

To understand the Veteran's needs, and develop a comprehensive and collaborative plan, I like to ensure an appropriate and comfortable pace for the assessment phase. Building rapport with the Veteran is my priority. I am experienced in the areas of mental health disorders including PTSD, generalized anxiety and depression, sleep disturbances, traumatic brain injuries, and chronic pain. Basic adaptive equipment, or more complex needs can be met through using specialized equipment, or home modifications if the Veteran is eligible.

I focus on facilitating engagement in meaningful activities, implementing daily structure and routine, and offering a strong listening ear to support the Veteran and their family on the path of recovery. My goal is to enable Veteran's to live a meaningful life through both mental health support and physical adaptations to the environment.

Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)

Traumatic Brain Injuries are complex and can be challenging to navigate for the individual and their family.  I assess occupational performance in cognitive, mental, and physical changes related to a TBI to further understand how the injury is impacting one's daily life and functioning.

Cognitive rehabilitation including compensatory & remediation strategies, sensory integration, stress & anxiety management, pacing & planning, behavioural activation,  and implementation of structure & routine are pivotal to wellness after a TBI.

With Occupational Therapy intervention, an individualized program is designed to support clients in re-engaging in meaningful daily activities including work, education, driving, leisure activities, and more.

Clinical Case Management Services

As a case manager, I understand engaging in various rehabilitation treatments may feel disjointed and confusing. I communicate between parties (funders, family doctors, specialists, rehabilitation providers, etc.), helping clients navigate the process and information between all stakeholders.

As a case manager, I can coordinate with other health care professionals to ensure a collaborative and comprehensive treatment plan, with a client-centered approach.

Women's Health

As an Occupational Therapist who specializes in women's health, I am able to support women with varying concerns. Transitioning to parenthood effects everyone differently but often impacts social engagement, emotions, sexuality, relationships, and engagement in physical activities and work.

I support those transitioning into parenthood, incorporating scheduling and strategies to include self-care and other important daily activities, ensuring you are the best you can be to support those you love.  Developing positive coping strategies, self-compassion practices, realistic expectations, and prioritizing a holistic and balanced lifestyle can significantly help parents transition into the role.
